The Tokyo stage of the new Wildhorn musical "Cyrano" was officially announced.
The play will open on May 5 2009 at Nissay Theater, Tokyo, with Takeshi Kaga (the Japanese original Jekyll & Hyde) in the title role, Hikaru Asami (an ex-Takarazuka star and presently acting as Elisabeth) and Kenji Urai (the Pfeiffer in the Japanese "Rudolf"and now playing Rudolf in "Elisabeth").

Yes. The show tilte seems to be just "Cyrano".
The small letters written above "Cyrano " mean "musical".
The role Christian will be double casts, Kenji Urai and a newcomer.

I wish they would do another season of Jekyll there...

It looks like Masataka Nakagauchi is our second Christian, Kazuya Yamada is the director and Matiko Riyuu is the translator. I'm not sure if those are all spelled correctly, since I fed them through an online translator, but I hope they're close.

I've just learned that the show will play in Osaka for a week, following the run in Tokyo. I also found the name Kazuko Matsuoka listed for the translation, and Matiko Riyuu for "word translation."

Can any of our Japanese-speaking readers help me out here? Can you tell which translator did the script and which did the lyrics? And am I spelling these names (and the director and second Christian, above) correctly?

Well the "word translation" normaly means the translation of the spoken dialog. So I assume Matiko Riyuu is the book translator and Kazuko Matsuoka the lyrics.
I'm just assuming it from the normal way the same things are done in Vienna with Rudolf for example.

There is a video clip with the characters but on the background the music heard is still "Gascons" by Douglas Sills from the Demo. Anyway, it would be nice if a Concept CD or a Japanese CD would come out :D

BRILLIANT! I was looking for some pictures just the other day. Do we have a songlist or anything like that yet? (I know, I know, the same old from me LOL but I'm very curious because I've followed this project for years.)

I'm trying to track down a songlist as well. Will post if I can get my hands on one. Or if anyone else here can find one, please let us know.

While wandering around youtube I found an interview that aired in Japan with the star of Cyrano, Takeshi Kaga. He also sung the song "Alone" so that's why I'm leaving the link (as the video doesn't have subtitles and I don't think anyone around here understands japanese.
