Title: Hungary and Austria
Juggler - March 21, 2008 04:44 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,
Two news items out of Europe for you today...
First, SP is set for its Hungarian premiere, presented by Szolnoki Szigligeti Színház. Performances are planned in Budapest, 25-27 July. And then it opens on 3 October in Szolnok. The full cast was just announced, and includes Attila Csengeri as Percy and Réka Koós as Marguerite. László Molnár, who led the Hungarian premiere of Jekyll & Hyde, will be Chauvelin, apparently only in Budapest (he steps down to the part of Mercier for Szolnok - not sure who's Chauvelin there).
And second... the German production will travel from Halle to Baden, Austria, complete with leading cast members Darius Merstein-MacLeod, Maricel and Chris Murray. Performances are at Stadttheater Baden from 18 October - 30 November with more possible.
Best,
Peter

Okay, so I've figured out the cast setup for the Hungarian production. There are two different actors named László Molnár in this staging. The first, from Musical Színház who also directs the show, is Chauvelin. The other, from Szigligeti Színház, plays Mercier.

I just thought I'd bring this up... there is a great new bunch of sound clips from the Hungarian production on
their website.
Look under "Multimedia" (Into the Fire, The Scarlet Pimpernel and Where's The Girl Reprises are all full length songs, even). There are also new photos and a video from the demo recording sessions, in the "Gallery" section.
It sounds really good... I hope they release a cast recording.
Best,
Peter

Thanks for the link to the web site and how to get into the music. I listened to "Into the Fire" and I really enjoyed it. Even though it was in another language I could still sing along with it. :D
I was looking at the galleries and my only thought was, I would like to have something with the photo telling what actor was in the photo and the character she/he was playing in the musical.

It's odd that they recorded so many tracks, but there is no news on a release.
Also, the Chauvelin actor is pretty awesome in those recordings.

A quick update on this. I have learned that the premiere this month (planned for 25-27 July) in Budapest won't happen. The premiere is still set for 3 October in Szolnok, Hungary.

Another update on the Hungarian production... it's gotten under way at long last! Performance dates have been announced for October, and I'll keep an eye out for more.
There are also some production photos on
the website now. They are only on the Hungarian side ("Belepes") so far, but you can go to the Galeria and click "Eloadas" to find them.

For some weird reason I can't see the site...nor the english nor the Hungarian versions...any idea why?

I've sometimes had a problem getting the site to load in Firefox... the splash page will come up, but clicking on the links for the English and Hungarian sites doesn't work. Internet Explorer has worked out for me at those times.

I've just discovered that Pimpernel will reach Budapest, at long last, this March. Two performances have been scheduled so far. There may be more announcements, for Budapest, Szolnok or other cities, I hear that the show has been well received over there. Details at
