I've just posted some news about a workshop for one of Frank's new musicals... ALICE.
Read all about it:

Yep, just saw. This is one of the Wildhorn projects I've been excited about for years, ever since it was said it could be done with David Copperfield (the illusionist). Who's writing the lyrics? That's my chief question

I like, "When it comes to Broadway...", I truly hope it does.

There's been word of Frank projects coming to Broadway since pre-"Dracula". If you look in some old schedules, you'll see "Camille Claudel" listed for 2005/2006. I don't know what happened to prevent that.
Waiting For The Moon" is said to be Broadway-bound. I hope it is as I've heard a lot of great stuff about it.
"Alice" been talked about for (nearly) 10 years. I'm a) a huge fan of the books and B) a Wildhorn fan. I want this and "Excalibur" to happen REALLY badly.
Also, I wonder what will happen to "Carmen"? Des McAnuff ("Dracula") is working on a new musical version at LaJolla Playhouse. There's been a lot of "talk" about it, so I wonder where that leaves Frank's version?

Most new shows these days, by anyone who's had a shot at Broadway before, are marketed as "Broadway-bound." It's not hard to see how it has a nice sound to it, and helps stir more interest in the show.
There's a difference though, between having a hope and an intention that a show reach Broadway... and a definite plan. The thing to look for is an announcement of an actual venue and an opening date. That's when we know there's a plan.
As Nan has discussed on her website, the main reason Camille hasn't played on Broadway (or anywhere else) since the first production, is a lack of investors. People want light-hearted, fun shows with name recognition these days. Not exactly Camille Claudel... though in my biased opinion, I think it's an excellent piece and should play again.
Frank's Carmen is still going ahead. It should happen in the Czech Republic in Fall 2008.
Oh yes, and for Alice: lyrics by Jack Murphy, book by Phoebe Hwang.

It's interesting, will they use in the script for Alice those lyrics which are in Lewis Carroll's book?

Here's a bit more information on "Alice" from the GlobalVision Records message board.

While I don't have too much more information, I have heard from reliable sources that a lot more time is being put into seeing that this show becomes a reality.
Frankly, I think this is going to be an awesome show from the little that I've heard. It could end up being Brandi's breakthrough like Jekyll was for Linda, but we'll just have to see I guess! I just thought everyone would be happy to know that this show isn't just being tossed aside.
Here are just a few plot tidbits:
- Similar to the film "Hook," Alice is driven to back Wonderland to save her young daughter.
- Score features many genres.

That makes total sense. And listen, I'm not surprised that they're doing it differently. There's loads of "Alice" musicals out there. I know when I did mine, with a guy from Europe, we set it in a mental asylum (not because it was dark, but for different reasons.) "Alice" has been brought to the stage so many times, even in Carroll's lifetime. When I heard about the Wildhorn version, I rolled my eyes (I thought "Havana" was a much more exciting project.) But then I was thrilled to hear about the Copperfield concept. The new concept is brilliant, of course, and I'm amazed that nobody thought of it earlier. Now here's to hoping that it gets on, before someone can pinch it.
PS. If it's going to be different, they should change the title. "Alice" is not very exciting (Alice?! Alice?! Who the FK is ALICE?! ORRR my quote: "The curious trap themselves in Wonderland. Look at Alice, she is no longer living next door :D ")

I've heard both "Alice" and "Wonderland" as working titles for this project. I don't know if we have an official title yet.
