Description: Musical

I have heard that Frank Wilhorn will be doing a musical based on "Frankstein" and I think it will be based on the arthor Mary Shelley?

Does anyone know anything about this project. It isn't listed on Frank's web site and I could not send an e-mail to the site since the e-mailing system was down.

That pretty much covers everything I know about the project at this point. Note that there are a few other Frankenstein productions active in the theater news right now. One has, or had, Ron Bohmer attached. Another is Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein. Neither of those is Frank's.

Best,
Peter

:D Thanks for the information. I must of passed right over that paragraph when I was at the web site for Frank.

It's been mentioned for the Alley (Theatre) for years. Ever since "Dracula" on Broadway. I remember reading an article where someone said it was his best score. There was also talk of a concept album with James Barbour, straight after "Dracula", and before GlobalVision. I haven't heard anything about this show since last year. I doubt it will happen until "Young Frankenstein" and the off-Broadway "Frankenstein" blows over.

Exactly, there's no point having three Frankenstein-based musicals vying for attention... We probably won't hear about this one for a while. There's another Frankenstein which seems to be picking up some speed, the website is intriguing.

We know the theater business can be strange at times... that things can happen without clear reasons, or more often, just take a long long time to happen. The Alley Theatre's 07-08 schedule is out now, and Frankenstein isn't listed on it. I too suspect that things will be quiet on Frank's version of this show, for a while.

I heard something about a Frankenstein Musical here in the UK headed for the West End... someone was talking about it on the radio, but I only heard the end of it, so I don't know who the composer is etc... :(

Question: Has Frank ever got to really start working in this show? 'cause in the RUDOLF Programm from Vienna it says in Franks bio that Frank's FRANKENSTEIN opened in 2006...and I'm almost sure it hasn't.

So...either this is just a typo and they mistook the Baron version of Frankenstein with Franks (which I wouldn't be surprised since the first one does sound a bit like Frank's J&H) or the show was produced and I didn't knew (which I hardly doubt) or then I'm going insane...

Frank's Frankenstein hasn't been performed on stage yet. Unless it TOTALLY got past all of us... but I don't see how that could have happened.

Still in development.

Thanks for saving my mental sanity! I was crazy around the net trying to figure out if I've missed something. I would be a pretty lame fan if I had allowed a Frank show based in one of my favourite books pass by unoticed! :P

That IS a rather serious typo, isn't it? I haven't heard any updates on Frank's Frankenstein for quite some time. I don't really plan on hearing anything anytime soon though.
