You probably all know I'm the first to sing this girl's praises.

She's currently the stand-by for Elphaba in the National Tour of Wicked. I wish I could see her in the role. I'm just really glad to see her in something big again.

Hold the pies,,, I think Collen is knock dead gorgous and was very good in J&H ( saw her several times). Her acting as Lucy was fine and the vocals you see on the DVD are solid,,,but I gotta tell you, she was straining here and there to be consistant on Bd'w with that role vocally. She had several shrill moments.

The role of Elphaba is a much more challanging role than Lucy. Every Elphaba I saw was very powerful both vocally in her portrayal of the character. Idina Menzel, Soshana Bean and Julia Murney all possess solid voices and are very strong "character" actors . I'm not saying that Colleen can't handle the role.( She obviously impressed the casting director enough to land the stand-by role.) That should suit her fine. It would be like casting Kristin Chenoweth as Elphaba. Kristin is mega talented, but not for Elphaba, imo.

But I'm happy that this is happening for Coleen. She deserves something good to happen for her.

I do agree with you, Pati B, I am just very interested to see how she has improved over... 6 years?

I was hoping to see Coleen in WICKED but no the girl who was her originaly (Not Idina) went on anyway. I was so hoping to see Coleen to be Elphie. I wanted to see her. I've never heard her voice only in J&H. thats all.
