Title: Pimpernel to premiere in Hungary!

Juggler - December 22, 2006 08:54 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,
I'm pleased to announce that Pimpernel is headed for Hungary! Szegedi Nemzeti Színház (The National Theatre of Szeged) and Musical Színház (Hungarian Musical Theatre) will co-produce the Hungarian premiere. Auditions will be held in January and February of 2007, and performances are planned from 5 October 2007 through 30 May 2008. Attila Valla (who translated lyrics for the Hungarian premiere of Jekyll & Hyde) will provide the translation. For more information, visit the Hungarian Production Website (in Hungarian and English). And be sure to check out the Multimedia section for three demo tracks!

Best,
Peter

Now that's cool. I wonder how Pimpernel sounds in Hungarian.

Scarlet Pimpernel is still running? I didn't know that. How long has it been running?

Welcome to the boards, Lauren

The performance rights for Pimpernel have been available for several years, so groups all around the world have been staging the show... and continue to launch new productions. Check out the SP website for a regularly updated list of current and upcoming productions (plus all the past ones we know about): http://ThePimpernel.com/html/productions.shtml

Best,
Peter

Thank you for the welcome! Are they going to tour any time soon? I really do hope that they will come to Rhode Island. I'd love to see it.

You're a Rhode Island-er hey? I have a good friend from there...

M.Chauvelin - January 9, 2007 07:58 PM (GMT)
Yes I am. Who is your friend? I might know him/her. I don't know. but I might if you could give me the name of them. I might. who is it? I just love the Scarlet Pimpernel. It needs to return to the US!!! Now. the last time they were here was in 1999. And I never heard of it then, I want to see it :). Bring it back home to the USA (Pimpernel I mean) -laughs-

Hi there! I wouldn't count on a tour but, like Juggler said, you may be able find a regional production in your area. Keep an eye on the official site. That's your best bet.

I can't really name any names, here at least.

I wouldn't count on "The Scarlet Pimpernel" returning, to be perfectly honest with you. Perhaps if "Waiting For The Moon" makes it to Broadway and is a huge success, along with the continued success of "For The Glory" in Gettysburg, there may be a revival of interest in Frank's work.

Juggler - October 18, 2007 01:43 PM (GMT)
Okay... so the 19th of October is almost upon us, and I've had a growing feeling that I would have to say this. I have confirmation that the Hungarian premiere of Pimpernel isn't happening this year. A shame, but sometimes that's how it goes. They might try for it again next year.

The show is on track with its premiere running in Sweden, and another coming up in Norway. It'll be back in Germany too, of course. Stay tuned for more.

Best,
Peter
