Title: Why?
Description: Hyde killing Lucy

I touched on this in the post about Jud Fry and Hyde, but why do you guys think Hyde kills Lucy? Is it because she doesn't "wait for him?" Or is it something more sinister?
Here's what I think:
Hyde embodies all evil, and envy is definately an evil quality. Hyde feels envious that he'll never be able to have the relationship with Lucy that Jekyll has. This is the driving factor behind him hurting/killing Lucy and not just the thrill of the kill. Hyde would probably not kill his only "release" without reason. So depriving Jekyll becomes his reason for having emotions.
What do you guys think?

I agree.
Hyde kills Lucy because he is jealous of her love for Jekyll, and even though he is very connected to Jekyll, Hyde knows that Lucy will never feel the same way for him as she does for Hyde, Hyde gets jealous and kills her, because he is an evil guy.

I think he killed Lucy quite simply because he could. Jekyll loved Lucy and Hyde knew this so it was a 'two fingered salute' to Jekyll by killing her, because in essence Jekyll would have done it, and it would hurt Jekyll more. She loved Jekyll, and like Ehmmar said she would never feel the same about Hyde than she does for Jekyll. We have to remember that Jekyll and Hyde are the same person so on some level Jekyll wanted to kill people, Hyde just gave him him the abilities and lack of check to do so.

"She loved Jekyll, and like Ehmmar said she would never feel the same about Hyde than she does for Jekyll"
So just as good (Jekyll) longs for evil (secret longings to kill those who oppose him, sexual depravity...), evil (Hyde) longs for good (the satisfaction of being in a loving relationship)?

Personally, I think Hyde just did it because he's an evil S.O.B. Maybe a blow for Jekyll, but I certainly don't think Hyde was jealous.

Well I don't like the idea of Hyde killing Lucy at all!
My avatar says it all I guess! (it's from the musical done in Australia for the 2nd time only, you can see it's Hyde killing Lucy!)
I guess the only way to describe Hyde really is evil...pure evil! Though I would have liked to see Hyde fall in love with Lucy...NOW that would be a show to remember, can you just imagine a monster falling in love with an innocent girl?

Lucy's hardly innocent... lol
My opinion on the matter is that he kills her because he can, it's another way to get one over Jekyll, like an 'up yours' but in a very, very evil way.
There could also be a hint of jealousy in there too, because Lucy's attraction to Jekyll is far deeper than it ever could be with Hyde. o0o So many theories!

Just thought I'd bump a really old topic because it interests me. I have 3 theories involving Hyde's murder of Lucy:
1. Jekyll, after the kiss with Lucy, is secretly embarrassed by his own behavior and, as a well-brought-up up, rich man, he cannot fathom the thought of a hooker loving him, let alone the thought of himself reciprocating. If what Hyde suggests during Confrontation is true, and Hyde is only responding to Jekyll's secret desires (after all, that's what brought Hyde to Lucy in the first place), Hyde kills her because Jekyll is afraid of being involved with her. (This theory introduced to me by someone who played Hyde, and as he is very intelligent, I trust and appreciate his opinion.)
2. He is simply trying to make Jekyll angry, perhaps making it easier for him to take over.
3. He kills Lucy because he is possessive and considers her 'his', and he would rather kill her than allow her to leave.
Of course, this all leads into the "Do Jekyll and Hyde share memories or not?" question. I think I'll start that thread...

My opinion on this is that Hyde murders Lucy to get revenge on Jekyll. Jekyll urges Lucy to run away from Hyde not only to protect herself but also to take from Hyde all his pleasures... and Hyde doesn't find very that very amusing. So...Jekyll wants her away? Sure, Hyde will send her away...permanently :P
