First time I saw/heard Frank's work: January 1995 - J&H, Theatre Under the Stars (here in Houston) has long been a place to showcase new works from new writers. They include these shows in their regular season. The show was very different from what went on tour and then to broadway. In fact the one thing I remember was a warning from the ushers as we went back in after intermission. They told everyone that if they were weak of heart they should stay out for the first 10 minutes of the 2nd act. This is when Lucy's murder took place. The whole audience gasp. It was like watching a live murder on stage. She was in a white cotton gown on a white bed with one spot on her. Hyde was behind her and he reached over and stabbed her several times. Blood started running down her, maybe too much. I may not have all the details exact (it was a long time ago), but this is how I remember it. Anyway, we walked out of the theatre after the show was over and said that this had to go to broadway. So many times the showcase shows were not very good and really raw, but not J&H.

Favorite show(s): The Civil War, Jekyll & Hyde, Wicked, Dracula and so many more

Favorite Wildhorn character: Boy, this is a hard one. do I have to pick just one? Ok, if I have to pick just one, I guess it would be Chauvelin.
