Title: David Hasselhoff

Anyone else love David Hasselhoff's performance which was featured on the DVD from teh Broadway Television Network?
ashtonu - July 3, 2006 05:34 AM (GMT)
Well, I don't LOVE his performance, but I don't think it's as awful as people say. I thought it had some good moments, but those were often overcome by the weaker bits, most notable the the transformation and the first "Alive". I thought the transformation if front of Utterson was pretty good though.

Alive I will admit left something to be desired, but i think his transformation was done well.

wow if you thought his transormation was good you need to see me do it lol .... it was horrendous....
ah at least you could see it right...

Let me amend my previous statement:
The END of the Transformation scene, as in JUST before and once he had turned into Hyde I liked. Beforehand when he had first collapsed I hated because it looked like he was being pulled by something invisible and it looked a bit fake.
And you should see me do it. I'm constantly doing Confrontation, The Alive Reprise, and The transformation scene :D

I thought his portrayal was very nice. It was horrible, like several people have told me. It wasn't the best, but, he did a good job in my eyes.

Unfortunately he won't be doing panto here in the UK now. He pulled out due to other committments. Oh the disappointment. :ph43r:

I have to say, I did not like Hasselhoff's performance. Well, he was good, but I just didn't like it. No offense to anyone who like it or anything, but I thought his Hyde was a little too ape-ish. And I didn't like how he acted at the beginning of the first Transformation, it was just weird. I haven't seen the movie in a long time, so forgive me for the lack of details. I just remember I didn't really like it that much.

Tell me please, did he really play last season on Broadway or just was a guest star for video version?

David Hasselhoff did indeed play the role regularly on Broadway. He stepped in, taking over from Sebastian Bach, in Fall 2000. Like others, he played 6 shows a week (with Rob Evan as his "matinee guy").

Thanks.
Then I must say, I don't like his playing. If he was just a movie actor invited for video version and not used to play in musicals, I'd say he was quite good for his first time. But if he did this for such a long time and it seems like he never do it before - I think this is not good.
But I really like most of other cast on this DVD.

This was David's first attempt at Broadway and likely his one of his few live roles on stage. While he brought a sense of acting to the role, he was clearly not up to the rigors of playing the dual parts. He was a bit old (45-48 depending who he talked to!) but in pretty good shape and quite tall and handsome in a California beach boy way.
The cast seemed to get along well with him and visa versa. David was supposedly the money behind the BTN filming of Jekyll & Hyde, thus there was no way anyone other than he would star in the finished film. This was anticipated by the cast, though many had their favorites they wished to be captured on film.
I am happy that the exsisting company was immortalized on film as they are a nice bunch of people. But I had my wish list too!

Of course I'm not a lady to judge. But anyway I don't think Hasselhoff is handsome. In Russia we call this sort of people "a big wardrobe" :)
Boys dancing with Lucy in Good & Evil are much more handsome :)
