Title: Coleen Sexton

LucyHarris - July 5, 2005 08:58 PM (GMT)
Just wondering what everyone thinks of Coleen Sexton...I mean yeah I know she's not Linda Eder (but who is). But i think she is absolutely beautiful. I heard she was in the tour of Chicago, but i saw that...did she have a main role or was she just chorus? Because i didn't recognize her...she made that DVD great. I mean come on if it was just David Hasselhoff who would have the nerve to watch it right?

I thought Coleen was fine as Lucy. It's hardly fair to compare one actor/actress to another in a particular role since they all put their own "feel" for the character in the role. My being a fellow "Jerseyian" dosen't enter into my reply either.

NicolaeJettyCarpathia - July 23, 2005 04:24 AM (GMT)
Linda Eder really isn't my favorite as Lucy though, lol... Just never got into her. She's like the Jekyll and Hyde nazi =-o. But colleen... ahh my heart belongs to her :D

Rachel - July 28, 2005 05:30 AM (GMT)
Coleen showed a lot of potential, but she seemed a little bit "green"(as in, fresh) to me. I think she was around 20 when she performed the role? That seems awfully young to me (she's only a few years older than me!).

For years, Linda Eder was my favorite, and I still love her -- but Coleen Sexton won me over, and now she ranks at the top.

Too squeaky for me (for Lucy, I mean). A cross between Eponine (Les Mis) and Columbia (RHPS). Her acting didn't do much for me, either.

Just watching the Broadway DVD now. My, my, for a poor prostitute, Lucy sure had a nice room, clothes and furniture.

I just see her as more edgy, rough around the edges. Sexton plays her too innocent, too clean-cut.

Hehe.

Props to you for the Rocky Horror Show reference... one of my personal favorites.

I love the stage show. :D Not a HUGE fan of the movie, but it's enjoyable.

In short, Sexton has a nice voice, but it's not a Lucy one. And I agree with the person that said that she's too "fresh".

Coleen is great. She's perfect.

You're right. Linda Eder is in her own category.

I personally wouldn't go that far, concerning Colleen.

She was okay, but it's a shame that Hasselhoff comes pretty damn-near close to ruining her performance.

Linda Eder is in her own category. She's just special like that :-)

Let me say too that Coleen was good, but entirely too "Squawky" like a lot of "pop" singers anymore. That whole whiney thing is in now...No one can compare with Linda

Rachel - December 20, 2005 02:12 AM (GMT)
Is the whiney thing "in" now? How unfortunate.

I'm not saying that to be sarcastic.

I'm serious.

haha leave poor Hasslehoff outta this, he just wasn't meant for the role... Who knows WHY they picked him??? :-p

I loved Colleen she was so pretty :):)

EdwardJekyll - December 23, 2005 04:52 AM (GMT)
They picked Hasslehoff for the exact same reason they picked John Travolta for Grease.

yeah but Hasslehoff? Why not a good actor... you know... like... I don't know a good one :P

EdwardJekyll - December 24, 2005 12:47 AM (GMT)
It could've been worse. Like David Hasslehoff for Jekyll and Pamela Anderson for Lucy. Actually, she might play the part of a tramp well.

Rachel - December 24, 2005 03:02 AM (GMT)
Concerning the Grease comment:

John Travolta is good looking though.

FireFuryFlame - January 9, 2006 02:47 AM (GMT)
Hasselhoff doesn't even have that advantage.

I can't think of any reason for his being cast.

Apart from comedy relief, perhaps.

Rachel - January 9, 2006 05:02 AM (GMT)
Hasselhoff grosses me out. I only saw the DVD version once. And promply blocked it out of my memory. I honestly don't know if I even got through to the end of it. *shrugs*

Lucy Harris - January 23, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
I thought she was wonderful. I saw a local production and heard the CD and she's the best!

"Hasselhoff doesn't even have that advantage. I can't think of any reason for his being cast."

At a certain point the show was in trouble. They began star casting with soap star Jack Wagner, who actually brought in numbers and crowds equal to when J&H first opened. Honestly, he was the weakest most dreadful J/H of all. He didn't stay on long. 6mos. I beleive.

David was also brought in to boost failing box office numbers. He didn't kill the show but was not able to ressurect it, either. He was however, the major funding for the BTN video that's out there. So for that, I'm sure the supporting cast is grateful. David was a nice guy to work with...very professional and quite handsome in person. He gave it his best shot and his money, but it didn't fly as well as he anticipated.

Rachel - February 21, 2006 04:24 AM (GMT)
You are making me feel bad for any negative criticism I ever gave anyone *open mouth, insert foot*

pati b - February 21, 2006 03:40 PM (GMT)
No worries. Most people react to what they see onstage. Hey, if you think an actor is dreadful for a role, say so and there's no harm in stating why...as long as you are respectful about it.

Some of the most brilliant performances are delivered by some of the most anbnxious people LOL! and vica versa. They are used to all sorts of critiquing.. I would hope.

wolfwynd - February 22, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
I must be the only one in the entire world who actually quite enjoyed his performance... I've seen worse *cough*SebastianBach*cough*

*pets David* Is okay Dave, I wub you!
