I thought I would start a thread for any frequently asked questions about how this message baord runs. Please check through the questions and answers below if you are having trouble with anything or if you are wondering how something works. If your question doesn't appear, or the answer doesn't apply to your situation, feel free to post your question (it will have to be in another forum - pick the most appropriate one) or contact a moderator. Thanks.
Questions will be in a random order, based on when they are asked and answered here.
How do I set up an avatar (the picture that appears under my name)?
First, you will need to find or create the image that you want. Avatars must be under 100x100 pixels, and avatars uploaded to this server must be smaller than 25 kb. You can use any of the following file types: gif, jpg (or jpeg), png, or bmp.
Next, if you have your own web space we recommend uploading the avatar to that web space. This will allow you to use it for multiple boards, and save space on our server (we should have plenty of space, but it would still be nicer that way).
If you do not have another place that you can upload the file, feel free to upload it to the WildhornFans.net server.
While logged in, click on "My Controls" > "Edit Avatar Settings". From there you can upload the avatar (if needed), enter the URL of your avatar stored in another location, or pick from the standard gallery of avatars.
Enjoy.
How do I recover a forgotten password?
If you forget your password, go to the "Log In" page and click on the link to do a password retrieval. You will need to enter your username, and a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the address that is on record for your account.
How do I recover a forgotten username?
Unfortuantely, there is no automated system to search for a lost username. Try looking through the "Members" list to see if you find it that way. If this doesn't work, send me an e-mail at peter (at) williamswebdesign (.) com and I will be glad to help you locate your account. This is preferable to creating a new username, and you can currently register only one username per e-mail address anyway.
