Title: Changes to the message board
Juggler - May 10, 2006 05:23 PM (GMT)
Hi folks,
There are going to be some changes to the message board in the coming weeks, and I wanted to start by explaining what is going to be happening.
Ryan (rockfenris2005) and I have teamed up and started planning a new set of message boards that will cover all of Frank's projects! We're excited about being able to set this up and make it available. We hope to be able to bring together the existing communities for Frank's shows, and start new boards for shows that don't have them yet. As you might imagine, this is a big project. We are going to be doing things in stages. We will provide updates throughout the process, and try to make this transition as smooth as possible. You can expect to see quite a few changes to these boards in the next several weeks.
The first thing that you'll see happen is a change of this board's name and address. In a few days I will be renaming the board, which will move it away from the s7.invisionfree.com/jhfans/ location. We've chosen to do it this way, because this will preserve all of the existing user accounts and posts. The Jekyll boards are going to remain intact, and we aren't taking anything down in this move. The Jekyll boards will simply become a sub-set of the new, improved and larger set of message boards.
When I rename the board, I will set up another page at the old address to inform everyone of this change and give a forwarding link to the new address. You won't have to do anything, except find the new board and keep on using it just as you have.
Again, stay tuned for more updates.
All the best,
Peter

Hello again,
Well, as you probably noticed... I moved the message board! s7.invisionfree.com/wildhornfans/ is now the new home of the expanding community that I mentioned above. If you go to the old address (s7.invisionfree.com/jhfans), you will find a link to forward you here.
As I have said, all user accounts, posts, and everything else about these boards has remained intact in this move.
The next step in the overall process is going to be another name change. Now bear with me on this... it's a different type of name change. I have purchased a domain name which I am going to be setting up for the boards. Domain name changes can take up to three days to take full effect, in the meantime you should use the URL listed above. In fact, even after the domain name is in place, the URL listed above will still work.
If you don't want to hassle with updating your bookmarks twice, and especially if you visit the board less often (less than once a day - in which case you might even see another post below, giving you the new domain name), I recommend waiting until the new domain name is up and running and then updating your bookmarks to that. I'm going to try and get it taken care of as quickly as possible... but as I said, it can still take three days or so. In the mean time, the old bookmark for the site will give you the forwarding page. The Message Board link in the navigation bar of Jekyll-Hyde.com will also take you to the correct address.
If you don't want to hassle with the forwarding page - perhaps if you visit the board once a day or more - then you could go ahead and update your bookmark to the wildhornfans URL above. Just be prepared to update it again in a few days.
I hope that makes sense, and I apologize for any inconvenience that the double name change might cause. This is the "pardon our dust" message from the construction crew. We are moving ever forward toward a bigger and better community!
Best,
Peter

May 14 updates -
I have just revised several of the board policy posts. This was mostly to change the references for the "Jekyll message board" to the "WildhornFans message board." I also made some other changes to the verbiage, mainly for flow and ease of understanding. I did not make substantial changes to the policies themselves, but I thought this would be a good time to remind everyone that if you haven't read the board policies, I'd appreciate you doing so. We haven't had many issues come up, which is great. Let's keep it that way. :)
I have also just updated the user rank structure. Unfortunately, the Jekyll-themed ranks won't work for other shows, and there's no way to have the ranks show as one thing in some forums and another thing in others. So the new breakdown is:
0 posts, Auditioner (Newbie), 1 pip
10 posts, Chorus Member, 2 pips
50 posts, Supporting Cast Member, 3 pips
100 posts, Leading Cast Member, 4 pips
200 posts, Leading Cast Member, 5 pips
I don't think I ever announced this before (bad admin)... but at 100 posts, users can set your own titles. You can certainly use something that is specific to Jekyll or another show in your custom title. To set your title, go to your control panel and to the "Edit Profile Info" page.
If you had a custom title set before, you may want to double check that it's still there now. I don't know if my update changed those or not.

The time has come! Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, I give you....
WildhornFans.net
This will now be the primary address as well as the new, real identity of these message boards. Please update all bookmarks and links to go to this address.
The old address (s7.invisionfree.com/jhfans/) will continue to have a forwarding link. The newer address (s7.invisionfree.com/wildhornfans/) will continue to work. When you call it up, it will redirect you to WildhornFans.net.
If you ever type in WildhornFans.com by accident, never fear... I bought that domain name too and it will forward you on to WildhornFans.net.
This completes one round of changes for the boards. Enjoy. And stay tuned for more in the near future.
Best,
Peter

I am thrilled to welcome not one but two of the long-standing communities for Frank's shows into the WildhornFans.net project.
I have opened a pair of forums for discussion of The Scarlet Pimpernel, which will be the new home of the Pimpernel Message Board. Liz (and Kel) Honig will continue to manage these boards, just as they have for many years.
I have also opened a pair of forums for discussion of The Civil War (including For The Glory). This will be the new home of the TCWFans Message Board. Tamara will continue to manage these boards, as she has for many years.
To all Leaguers and TCWFans who are joining us, Welcome!! You can start posting in the new forums, and all of the other forums here, once you have registered for an account. If you already had an account from the JHFans Message Board, that will obviously continue to work. And to the JHFans, you are welcome to join into discussions of these other shows.
Enjoy!
Best,
Peter

I've just done another round of changes on the boards... I'm betting you noticed...
Yes, there's a completely new look for the boards, a new banner across the top, all that good stuff.
We've also opened forums for Rudolf - The Last Kiss and Never Say Goodbye - moderated by Rockfenris. Check them out and discuss those shows there. I'll try to have some new updates on both of them soon.
I have also moved the Alumni forums. You can find them within the forums for their respective shows. So the Jekyll Alumni forum is now a sub-forum of Jekyll & Hyde, and so on. Not all musicals will have alumni forums (I didn't set them up for the two new shows). It will be based on the amount of discussion and whether one is actually warranted.
If anything looks out of place, or you have questions, feel free to drop me a PM or post somewhere like Off-Topic. I hope you all enjoy the new look and the new forums!
Best,
Peter

We now have a new moderator, and a new forum!
Rachel is now a member of the moderating team. She will be keeping an eye on the"Welcome and Member Profiles" forum. It's pretty self-explanatory... a place to introduce ourselves, welcome new members to the boards, good stuff like that. Enjoy!
Best,
Peter

Hi folks,
I've just made a change to these boards... they have moved, slightly.
Our new address is: boards.wildhornfans.net
This doesn't affect anything in the boards themselves (posts or user accounts), it's really just a name change. It might throw off some of your "last read" indicators or your auto-login, and I apologize for any inconvenience that might cause. This will be the new address for the boards, as far into the future as I can see.
board.wildhornfans.net, forum.wildhornfans.net and forums.wildhornfans.net will all bring you to boards.wildhornfans.net, just in case you try typing one of those.
wildhornfans.net (without anything before it) will now bring up a new page, which has links to a variety of Wildhorn-related fan communities. For the next couple of days, you may still arrive directly at the message boards when using this address, but as the DNS changes propagate around the world, you'll start to see the new front page.
If you have a bookmark directly to the boards, you may want to update it to the new address.
If you have any questions or issues, you are welcome to contact me via PM.
All the best,
Peter
