Title: Fanfiction?
Description: Does anyone write it?

PriestessofAssimbya - March 30, 2006 07:01 PM (GMT)
I don't think this has been discussed before, but I could be wrong...Does anyone here write J&H fan fiction? If so, what genres do you prefer to write? Characters/pairings? Can you give a link? I haven't seen much J&H fan fiction around, but it has so much potential, there must be some...

A Sin With No Name - March 30, 2006 08:39 PM (GMT)
I write stories, but they're my own work. I agree that there is a lack of J&H fic out there. I did, however, find a fanfiction of Mary Reilly, but it is not my work. The author hasn't updated in a long time, which is a shame because it's of to an awesome start. I can try to send you the link if you want.

PriestessofAssimbya - March 30, 2006 09:01 PM (GMT)
I'd be very interested in reading that, thank you! :) I find that alot of fan fiction writers tend to leave off multi-chapters - and I've been guilty of that myself. I've only known a few people to write J&H fan fiction, one of them being Wolfwynd of this board, who writes Hyde amazingly.

A Sin With No Name - March 30, 2006 09:53 PM (GMT)
I sent you a PM with the links. (I think I may have sent two, because I accidently sent the first one before I finished it! ) I don't know if you've read them or not, but if you haven't, I hope you enjoy them. :)

PriestessofAssimbya - March 30, 2006 11:30 PM (GMT)
I'm saving the two multi-chapter stories to read later, but I very much enjoyed the one-shot. :) Thanks again!

Oh, and you actually didn't send two PMs after all.

A Sin With No Name - March 30, 2006 11:49 PM (GMT)
I'm glad I could help. :)

Serena McKeenzo - March 31, 2006 04:53 PM (GMT)
Well, on www.fanfiction.net there're a few J&H fanfictions in the Books catergory. You can find Jekyll in LXG too, that movie has more fanfics. I started writing an LXF fic too, but haven't finished yet... :(

PriestessofAssimbya - March 31, 2006 06:41 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I saw the stories in the book section, I put my J&H story up there too, but most of the few stories they have are painfully bad (lots of them say that they wrote the story for English class - as if no one would be interested in J&H if they didn't have to read it for class!). I would be very interested in reading your story! I think alot of good stories take a while to write, depending on the way the individual writer works. :)

ashtonu - March 31, 2006 08:23 PM (GMT)
Well. here's some sites I found:

The Jekyll & Hyde Fan Fiction Web Site

This site has two fanfics...

And this site has one, and another based on "Notre-Dame de Paris"...

I haven't read any of these yet, but I will soon. Hope none of them were on the list Sin sent you. :)

A Sin With No Name - March 31, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
Don't worry, ahstonu, yours weren't on my list. The ones on my list are from the sight Serena mentioned, but only the Mary Reilly one is under the book category. I'll just post the links here. Personally, I think these are some of the best J&H fics on that site. :)

I noticed a J&H Fanfiction Database once (not that I write or read fanfiction for the most part), but it said that stories of a sexual nature were not permitted.

Which sort of defeats the purpose for some of us.

;-)

ashtonu - April 1, 2006 02:10 AM (GMT)
Agreed.
I mean, come on, half the idea of the Jekyll/Hyde transformation is sexual, and it would be stupid to avoid this aspect of the story. And of course there's "Bring on the Men"... Well, you know what I'm trying to get at. :)

rockfenris2005 - April 1, 2006 06:59 AM (GMT)

fanfiction.net is the way to go. Have a look in there

Well that counts me out then...

I have fic over here: http://sanity_melts.livejournal.com - I'm going to be putting my older stuff up soon, I have a couple of fics that aren't up there yet. Keep an eye on it.

I try not to go onto ff.net... some of it really offends me... <_<

PriestessofAssimbya - April 1, 2006 02:14 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the links, ashtonu! They look very interesting!

And I agree about the ridiculousness of not allowing 'stories of a sexual nature'. And besides, it's a pretty broad description. How far does something have to go before it's not allowed? Is a kiss between Jekyll and Emma all right? What about implications of something further happening between Lucy and Hyde? I suppose you could do stories based on the book, that might work...but the book doesn't give you much to go on, at least in my opinion, and you sort of need to put some sort of subtext between someone if you want to create a fleshed out, multi-chapter, story.

A Sin With No Name - April 1, 2006 05:34 PM (GMT)
I agree.

But in the book, Jekyll never fully described everything Hyde did. He did mention some that were "too horrible to tell." So we never know the full story of Hyde's adventures.

Serena McKeenzo - April 1, 2006 06:04 PM (GMT)
Ehmm... I write mostly slash, and I don't think you want read that...

Very true...now you're giving me fan fiction ideas! Multi-chapter, complicated fan fiction ideas! that I have no time to write! Yay! :)

Jekyll/Skinner or Jekyll/Nemo. But I Like Jekyll/Hyde too, no matter how weird that sounds.

wolfwynd - April 2, 2006 09:30 PM (GMT)
Please, Goddess, no more Jekyll/Skinner!

Now Jekyll/Hyde *major love*

I read it, Wolfwynd, and I must say it was certainly interesting... :)

And Priestess, I was browsing around on fanfiction.net and came across you're "Ready for Our Bridal Bed?". I liked it too.

I second what ashtonu said, I really liked it. It was a nice little dark fic. I also liked your Phantom story, "Siren", which I read a while ago. 'Twas very enjoyable, in a sad kind of way.

I'm currently working on a Sherlock Holmes story, but I work really slow. I know what I want to happen, the trick is getting it to flow. My friend has tons of patience with me, since I sent her updates for a murder/obsession story I'm working on, and I haven't updated it in a month! Darn writer's block.

Oh, writer's block, how thy insatiable rage doth forever curse me!

Yeah, that's an issue for me too. I've been working on a science fiction short story forever, and I even have an outline written, but I just can't ssem it get it done. Oh well.

But I was on a website the author Philip Pullman's web site the other day (Have you read his trilogy "His Dark Materals"? It's my favorite fantasy series) and here's what he said in the FAQ concerning writer's block:

"I don't believe in it. All writing is difficult. The most you can hope for is a day when it goes reasonably easily. Plumbers don't get plumber's block, and doctors don't get doctor's block; why should writers be the only profession that gives a special name to the difficulty of working, and then expects sympathy for it?"

Well, that's all very well, but you'll still hear me muttering "@#%*@% writer's block!!!" to myself. :D

I write fanfiction, too. I have a story at fanfiction.net, called the Red Rat. I'm going to have to work on posting more chapters, as our home computers are BROKEN!! But I'll post it ASAP. So, y'all can go over and check it out. My name's MadameAngel there as well, and everywhere. Please check it out, I need more readers!!!

ashtonu - April 10, 2006 06:04 PM (GMT)
*goes to do so right away* :)

ashtonu - April 12, 2006 07:14 AM (GMT)
Great work, Madame! You really so a good job of capturing the psychology of Jekyll/Hyde... I can't wait to get a third chapter! :)

MadameAngel - April 24, 2006 10:11 PM (GMT)
Okay! I'll write as much as I can, during school and everything, and I"ll be sure to post as soon as I can! I'm SO happy that some of you here are reading it, cuz I had other readers, but I know you guys, so it's cooler!

Thank you for saying that! :) It always makes me happy to hear that people like HJ7. I was working on a sequel, but my computer ate it.

I haven't yet gotten a chance to check out all this site has, but if you want to write some more detailed stories, shall we say, that aren't allowed on Fanfiction.net, try Adultfanfiction.net.

Bonjour everyone! Im new. A friend of mine gave me the cd to the show and I instantly fell in love with the show. I forget which version I have but anyway, im off-topic. I have not begun any fan fics on Jekyll just yet. Im still reading the book, (im real busy most of the time) and I want to make sure I know most of the stuff before I write about it. I do write Phantom fics on another board. Kind of weird the stuff we come up with. But, just wanted to say hi. And if anyone is on a Phantom or Les Miserables site, my s/n was Inspector.

Alexia Dark - March 8, 2009 06:36 PM (GMT)
Well, I figure I should update this thread, because I have written a J&H fanfiction. I started out writing the story from Lucy's POV, trying to figure out the whole Lucy/Hyde relationship, which was very confusing to me at first, but I soon realized that I really wanted to write the entire show as a narrative story.

So I basically have two versions of the story; Lucy's, which will never be read outside of my computer due to its, um, intensity, and the Jekyll/Hyde version, which is mostly told from Jekyll's POV with small bits narrated by Hyde.

The story may be a bit too racy for me to feel comfortable publishing on the internet as it is, but I may edit a little. In any case, here's the first chapter.
