Title: Board Policy: Language

We want to keep this online community friendly and welcoming. Some of Frank's shows have mature subject matter, while others are geared more toward families of all ages. The fans of his shows can also be of all ages, and the communities online have largely proven to be mature as well. I take that to mean that we can handle some occasional harsh language, but also that we should be able to express ourselves effectively without it.

As stated elsewhere, this board welcomes members of age 13 and up. We would therefore like to keep things "rated PG-13" around here. The rule of thumb is, mild and moderate swears are acceptable, if they are framed properly. The harshest words should not be used. We do understand that people sometimes slip, or sometimes say something they don't realize is offensive to others. This is easily forgiven, though you might hear from one of us asking you to edit your post.

The one absolute line that I will draw is this: it is unacceptable to direct a swear, a discriminatory remark of any kind, or even normal language, used as an attack against another person. This includes, but is not limited to, derogatory remarks about race, gender or sexual orientation. It also includes personal attacks and harassment. If you insist on attacking others or causing trouble, you'll hear from a moderator or myself. Repeat offenses may lead to the loss of your message board privileges.

As with many things, just try to use good judgement and common sense. How would you want to be treated? Would you say the same words in public? Remember that what you post here might remain online and visible to others for many years.

Again, we want this to be a welcoming and comfortable place for everyone who wishes to take part. Thanks for your consideration.
