Title: Frank & Friends / Mitsuko
Description: in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan

Juggler - January 22, 2010 07:50 PM (GMT)
Hi all,
I've collected some more information about the "Frank & Friends / Mitsuko" concert that is coming up in Japan. Dates include 11-14 March in Tokyo and 18-21 March in Osaka.

Act One will be a concert presentation of material from Mitsuko, featuring Kei Aran as Mitsuko, Mate Kamaras as Heinrich and either Yoshio Inoue, Mario Tashiro or Lukas Perman as Richard depending on the date.

They will be joined Act Two by Frank... and Friends... some of the other names mentioned have been Marcia (all performances), Takeshi Kaga and Rena Sasamoto (select performances only). The concert is directed by Shuichiro Koike.

Hi, Juggler.

I'll see the show on 13 March, so I will give you some more information on the show and the song lists, too, although the songs of the 2nd Part may be changed every day, as different guest singers will appear on the stage.

Juggler - January 24, 2010 04:52 PM (GMT)
Terrific, thanks.

And I suspect you're right, other "Wildhorn & Friends" concerts have changed the set list around some each night, just to keep the show fresh and different. The changing roster of performers makes that even more likely to happen.

Fantasma da Opera - February 7, 2010 03:02 AM (GMT)
The Umeda Arts Theater has the site up http://www.umegei.com/ff_mitsuko/index.html

According to it the song list for Act 2 will be:

JEKYLL & HYDE:
This is the Moment
Someone Like You

RUDOLF:
Measure Of A Man
I Was Born To Love You

THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL
A Piece Of Courage
Where's The Girl ?
Our Separate Ways

NEVER SAY GOODBYE:
Never Say Goodbye
One heart

I would like to see if "A Piece of Courage" will be sung finaly by a male Percy or not...(since the song was written for Takarazuka...)

Juggler - February 10, 2010 06:30 PM (GMT)
My guess is, Kei Aran will sing Piece of Courage, since she's on the program. You never know, though.

Kumiko - March 15, 2010 04:01 PM (GMT)
Yes, Kei Aran sang A Piece Of Courage.

I saw two stages on March 14, the last day at Tokyo.
It was really, really marvellous!
There were standing ovations, and a rapturous applause, especially at the last stage.

I was very impressed and moved by Wildhorn songs.
According to Frank's words, there may be another concert,
and I'm really looking forward to the coming one.

And a big newsI
The new Wildhorn musical "Mitsuko" will be staged at the Umeda Arts Theater, Osaka, in March next year.
Kei Aran will play Mitsuko. Other castings are unknown yet.

The following is the numbers sung in the concert iintroduced on the programj.
The set lists changed according to the performers, of course.

The numbers sung in Act 2:

Dangerous Game (Takeshi Kaga & Marcia)
A New Life (Marcia)

Fantasma da Opera - March 15, 2010 04:10 PM (GMT)
Interesting...thanks!
Curious that they performed You Can Do Better Than Me from Bonnie & Clyde, wasn't expecting that. And even if I was I would think they would go with The World will remember us
Also a pitty they didn't sung Master of the Strings from Rudolf, specially when it's the best song in the show and the one audiences like the most.

Oh, it's interesting.

Since I assume Measure Of A Man, Something More, I Was Born To Love You and The Steps Of Tomorrow are the most favored songs of Rudolf in Japan.
The staging of the scene was quite different, too.
There was no strings at all, and instead, a lot of hanged bodies under Rudolf's foot.

Anyway, in this concert there were only 6 chorus members on the stage,
and I think it was too small for the big number.

Fantasma da Opera - March 15, 2010 05:09 PM (GMT)
Hmm maybe...I've seen the song sung in Concert in Hungary with 6/7 people and it's still great though...
Apparently the only production who used the strings was the Original one from Budapest. In Vienna the strings where replaced by a tango...

Also, it's a pitty they didn't performed any song from Wonderland I'm sure people would enjoy now with the Tim Burton film and all. But then again, Frank has so many shows that they had to leave out some. They've left out my 2 favourite shows Dracula and The Count of Monte Christo.

philly0330 - March 15, 2010 07:55 PM (GMT)
You mentioned "Never Say Goodbye" twice..did they perform both the title song from the Wildhorn musical and also the new song for the Jill Santoriello "A TALE of TWO CITIES"?

Kumiko - March 16, 2010 02:53 PM (GMT)
Sorry, my explanation may have been a little bit confusing.

In the Tokyo concert, Never Say Goodbye was sung only once, the title song from the same musical, with a duet of Kei Aran and Yoshio Inoue.

The Act 2 was composed of 5 corners:
The songs from 4 Wildhorn musicals Jekyll & Hyde, Rudolf, The Scarlet Pimpernel,
Never Say Goodbye, and a special corner in which a singer, two performers or corus sang a Wildhorn song with piano played by Frank himself!

Excellent update! I'm glad to hear the concert went well, and that Mitsuko will premiere in Japan.

There's new artwork posted on this page (click the link at the bottom).

And there's a brief mention of it on the Schedule page of kei-aran.com

I'm looking forward to more news about this one. :)
