I worked at the Alley Theatre in Houston, TX during the first staging of J&H in 1990. It was an INCREDIBLE time! During that run, someone organized an order of these amazing show jackets of heavy wool and calf skin sleeves & trim. On the back is the original poster image in satin and embroidery work. As sentimental as it is to me, I would consider parting with it to someone who would get more use out of it then I do. I can email pics. My jacket has my name on the breast and would probably need to be professionally removed. I don’t have a price in mind but I am not desperate to sell and it was $200 new and is still in pristine condition…I just don’t get to use it much down here in Texas. :(
I might hang on to it for a week or two so I can wear it to see Wonderland...just for fun. ;)
I'm not sure if it is permited to offer meborabilia sales on the boards...it's not in the rules so I guess not.
Anyway, my advice would be for you to put it for sale on eBay. I'm pretty sure lots of fans and/or collectors would be interested ;) Other option is to offer for sale to a Musical-shop. SoundofMusic.de in Germany, I believe, buys such memorabilia and resells it.
First, hello and welcome to the boards, ADF :)
As far as a sale like this goes... it's okay as long as it's a legal thing (we don't want people selling bootlegs around here, for instance). At one point we tried setting up a forum for sales, but nobody used it.
People who are interested in this could send PMs or e-mails (I recommend not sharing addresses on the board directly). Or if you wanted to, ADF, you could try one of those other options like eBay, and post links to your item here on the boards.
I hope that jacket can find a good new home. :)
Best,
Peter
