Title: Der Graf von Monte Christo DVD
Fantasma da Opera - November 24, 2009 12:36 PM (GMT)
So apparently there was a DVD made of the St.Gallen production of Der Graf von Monte Christo.
However this DVD won't be for sale on the market but given to the costumers of RWD Schlatter Türen...what's this? a Door manufacturer...
SO either you live in Swizerland and buy yourself a couple of doors and get the DVD as a gift, or you'll keep dreaming about it...
This said, I would like to publicly demonstrate my discontent about this.
Although I understand the company's strategy of marketing, I think that allowing a DVD to me made under this conditions without even allowing fans to buy it is very very unfair.
I know there's always some fan that starts a petition about this so I'm open to sign it if anyone knows of one with the intent of releasing the DVD into a larger market!
MinaHarker - November 29, 2009 03:18 PM (GMT)
the dvd is not for sale B)
I dont believe, that they will give the dvd as a present for a buy
Fantasma da Opera - November 29, 2009 09:54 PM (GMT)
Yes they will offer the DVD to their costumers. Unbelievable but true. If you don't believe me,

MinaHarker - November 30, 2009 01:06 PM (GMT)

I canīt believe it
wow
somebody needs a door? :P

It's just a give-away. But you have certainly to buy upmarket doors for a whole one-family dwelling in order to receive such a give-away.
Fantasma da Opera - December 5, 2009 11:35 PM (GMT)
This may be mean but I'm secretly hopping they don't sell a single door and go to the edge of bankrupcy...that may force them to release the DVD for sale :P

That's water under the bridge. They are already a part of AFG Arbonia-Forster-Holding AG.
Fantasma da Opera - December 6, 2009 04:20 PM (GMT)
Well...any company has the risk of bankrupcy

Hi all, I happen to have had contact with this company in the past and have found RWD Schlatter to be very open and approachable.
I imagine that they would be more than happy to have this DVD released on the market but understand that this is not their decision to make, as the terms of releasing this to clients only would have been made by the composer and his agents.
So instead of wishing ill on a reputable company who employ many people why don't we start a campaign to get Wildhorn to release this DVD to us fans.
Edward - December 28, 2009 06:07 PM (GMT)
Of course it's fixed in the contract that the DVD may only be distributed to customers of RWD Schlatter. On the other hand, why should the responsible persons have changed their mind? They decided not to release this DVD.
Fantasma da Opera - December 28, 2009 06:11 PM (GMT)
Apparently it's the contract signed by the firm and Theater St.Gallen that is preventing the release of this DVD to the market. The only way to solve this was RWD Schlatter to sign another contract with Theater St.Gallen to make this release possible. Although, mind it was RWD Schlatter who payed for the production of the DVD and therefore if they were interested in putting it on the market they would have puted it on the contract. They could still give the DVD for free to their costumers and profit from the sales of the DVD alone. ;)
If it depended only on Frank, I'm pretty sure he would release the DVD.
Edward - December 28, 2009 06:47 PM (GMT)
Apparently it's indeed the theater which is actually trying to prevent the release of the DVD. That's at least what I have learned from my correspondence.
libradude - January 2, 2010 06:30 PM (GMT)
Obviously they aren't aware of the fact that releasing the DVD to a few individuals will just result in it being distributed ILEGALLY. Then if they ever decide to release it to the public, it will not sell as well because of its illegal circulation.
Edward - January 5, 2010 10:20 PM (GMT)
Nowadays nobody cannot be aware of illegal distrubution of music, videos, software etc. If the theater really decides to prohibit the public release of such a DVD, they support and actively promote the illegal distribution. And that will prevent future DVD productions. Therefore it should be evident that the public release of such a DVD is a necessary requirement.
Fantasma da Opera - January 5, 2010 10:37 PM (GMT)
What astonishes me the most is their lack of view...don't they realise they could do good money with this? I dunno if the costs of the show are all payed but even if they are it's more money that would enter to the vaults of the Theater and therefore more quality in the productions...
Sometimes I think people in some Theaters (both in USA and Europe) completly forget this is also a business and not only Art...
Edward - January 6, 2010 11:28 AM (GMT)
Well, don't forget in other theaters it is not even art, just ...
Only my personal opinion.
Fantasma da Opera - June 1, 2010 02:42 AM (GMT)
Only 5000 copies of the DVD where made. Actually make that a DVD+CD. The CD is a Live-CD with 19 tracks from the show and the DVD is well...the DVD of the show.
Photos can be found here
http://thomas-borchert.repage7.de/Also it says the Firma is trying to make the DVD available for everyone but they can't promisse anything.
Fantasma da Opera - June 11, 2010 08:40 PM (GMT)
To help make this DVD happen, a group of people is gathering around on
FacebookAmong those who have joined is
Koen Schoots, who is as you know the Musical Director of the Show in St.Gallen, is Frank's musical supervisor in Europe and is now the Musical Director of the VBW in Vienna.
If you have Facebook, join in ;)

Strange... When I click the link to the petition on Facebook, it just takes me to my news feed, even if I copy the address and paste it in my browser window. I haven't been able to get to the page by searching for it on Facebook either. Does anyone know how I can get there? I really want to support the page.
Fantasma da Opera - February 6, 2012 09:57 PM (GMT)
I think the page was closed once everyone lost hope some sense would get into the producers.
