Title: Concept Album UPDATE

philly0330 - September 26, 2009 05:19 PM (GMT)
Good news: They are apparently tossing around the idea of selling a few of the demos on a CD at the World Premiere in Tampa, which is why the vast majority of the demos have been unheard. I don't know if it'll be Kennedy or Burkhardt, however :(. I think Kennedy did more of it - but we'll see!!

Well I hope your sources are right! Specially the part of the Budapest Orchestra doing the Concept.

About the selling of the Demos in Tampa. It's a cool idea...unfortunatly this fan doesn't live in the USA and won't be able to see the show. It would be cool if for example they could put it online like Peter and Nan did with the Camille demo?

I'm on the whatever Wonderland email chain so I got to listen to the radio commercial, and they asked for comments.

I said that they should add atleast a few more songs from the score and make a couple available for full download. For example, A Tale of Two Cities (still I think) let you download full versions of "Out of Sight, Out of Mind" and "Until Tomorrow." I think they should release the full "Finding Wonderland" and one of the love duets (I believe there's two - "Oh No (Don't Wanna Fall in Love Again)" and "Love Begins"), or something of the sort. I'm guessing the legit ensemble numbers are bad (like Camille's from what I remember), and I'm thinking "Finding Wonderland is the Act 1 finale" or they changed it and made "Through the Looking Glass" the Act 1 finale.

I just hope they don't make 500 copies of the CD and have some whacky Wildhorn fan buy 400 of them!!!

Oh on the same topic - if Wildhorn put the full score on there, he'd shoot himself in the foot. Too many people hate what they have heard ALREADY. Look at other Broadway forums ... But I don't see why "Once More I Can See" isn't on there, plenty of people flat out love it.

Fantasma da Opera - September 26, 2009 09:19 PM (GMT)
I don't believe in a full score release but a couple of songs could be made available indeed. I only heard 4 songs from the show and I must say I'm divided. while I like "The Mad Hatter" and "Once more" a lot, I am not really fond of the Cat and Catterpillar songs. "Finding Wonderland" sounds nice too but the short clip doesn't help to decide. So I'm hoping for something more to be released...

About B'way boards...well...I don't care for what they say. It's been proven over and over that tastes on B'way went down the sewar. I mean...they criticize Pimpernel and J&H and they praise Wicked?

Jack Murphy comments here, that they'll probably write around 50 songs for the show, and only 20 of those will be in the final version.

Another new update!

The recording sounds like it will distributed by the TBPAC, or somewhere in Tampa. "Conservatively, three weeks to get the recording replicated here." Also added that it is "virtually complete" and they hope it will be distributed at the theatre in November.

More news about the concept album... they have added a sound clip to the website from another song: "Off With Their Heads." In an update mailing they sent around, they say that the album will feature the world premiere cast, and should be available around 1 November.

They plan to keep posting new clips on the website each week, from now until the show begins. So check out WonderlandTheMusical.org for the new clip, and join their mailing list for more updates. I have pre-order information posted at FrankWildhorn.com

Fantasma da Opera - October 22, 2009 10:54 PM (GMT)
Thanks!

But...is the CD for Pre-order now? 'cause I couldn't find it

Juggler - October 23, 2009 09:23 PM (GMT)
I've double checked and confirmed - they are indeed taking pre-orders for the album. They don't have the album info listed online just yet, but you can fill out the form or call with the order and they'll put you on the list for it. More info should be posted soon.

Fantasma da Opera - October 24, 2009 06:33 PM (GMT)
Ahh that explains why I wasn't finding any info about it on the site. Thanks ;)
Will the CD only be sold at the Theater or will other shops like Amazon and SoM have it too?

rockfenris2005 - October 25, 2009 12:25 PM (GMT)
I wish I could hear this now :( This, and the "Love Never Dies" CD

Juggler - October 29, 2009 02:14 PM (GMT)
The concept recording is now listed in the Merchandise section of WonderlandTheMusical.org. They've also added shirts, a coaster, a bumper sticker and a magnet.

If anyone has questions about orders, they can contact the CenterStore at centerstore@tbpac.org

I don't know what the plan is for distribution, but expect that we will see it at least on Amazon, if not SoM. I'm checking on this and will post if I learn more.

Best,
Peter

Fantasma da Opera - October 29, 2009 06:53 PM (GMT)
Hope SoM sales it :P If not I've managed to get a friend to buy it and send it for me anyway

A few new updates...

I have added a small version of the cover art to Frank's site.

I'm told that it should be ready sometime next week - maybe not 1 November already, but soon.

As far as the distribution plan - at first it will only be available at the theater. I'm told that certain people are looking into broader distribution, but nothing is definite yet. The theater will ship internationally, though.

As always, more details as I have them.

Fantasma da Opera - October 30, 2009 06:17 PM (GMT)
Thanks! Do you how do we pay btw? Will the theater have a credit card payment system available or something?

Juggler - October 30, 2009 08:19 PM (GMT)
I haven't been in touch with their store directly, or placed an order. I'm not sure how they handle things for international orders, either, just that they do offer them. You could try the centerstore@tbpac.org address to ask and find out...

Fantasma da Opera - October 30, 2009 08:36 PM (GMT)
thanks I will ;)

Fantasma da Opera - November 14, 2009 12:03 PM (GMT)
Just a quick update to let you know the CD will also be available for sale at DressCircle

philly0330 - November 15, 2009 08:26 AM (GMT)
...this is slightly off-topic, but looks like Wonderland has seen another leaving or firing - Eugene Fleming, formerly the Caterpillar is no longer with the show if you look at the cast / credits. He was on the concept recording still! The role will now be played by TOMMAR WILSON.

This follows of course the huge revamp of the workshop cast, followed by the departure of Phoebe Hwang, Autumn Hurlbert is no longer with this and now Eugene Fleming. Hmmmmm!

Fantasma da Opera - November 26, 2009 06:02 PM (GMT)
CD is now available at SoM for 17.95€

Again: for Europeans, it's cheaper to buy it directly from TBPAC! ;)

(Thanks to Edward for point the release out)
