Title: Announcement for Juggler

rockfenris2005 - October 4, 2005 05:51 AM (GMT)

This came up in the Dark Musical Dracula forums (can't determine the source)

QUOTE
World premiere of Frank Wildhorns new musical: Mayerling Affair (work title)

It's official: On May 26th, 2006, the new show from Frank Wildhorn (music) and Jack Murphy (text) will have its world premiere at the "Operett Szinhaz" in Budapest, Hungary. The show (work title: Mayerling Affair) is based on Fredrick Mortons book "The Last Waltz" and tells the tragic (love)story of Austrian Crown Prince Rudolf and Mary Vetsera. Both were found dead in the hunting residence in Mayerling, near Vienna. The cause of death was never determined, but everything speaks for a double suicide...

The show will have its Austrian premiere in 2007 at the Ronacher Theatre in a production of the Vereinigten Bühnen Wien.

Auditions are in October, call backs in December of this year.

Might want to put this on the Frank page, Pete

Thanks for the heads up. I did see this on the Dracula board, and I know about the production. I'm just swamped. As soon as I can find the time, I'll add it to Frank's site.

So I'm not Juggler, but I read the post anyway.

That story sounds SO COOL... well, sad, but cool.

In what time period does it take place?

Juggler - October 12, 2005 01:30 PM (GMT)
Crown Prince Rudolf lived from 1858 to 1889.

Is this a really good score? As in Claudel / Waiting calibre? Orbetter? :D

I'd love to see this some-day

It sounds intriguing already

Sounds in my line of interest. Will wait avidly for any details concerning this.

...Frank really has a taste for the bizarre, doesn't he?

rockfenris2005 - October 27, 2005 10:40 AM (GMT)

Frank's music is like a delicious bowl of ice-cream... and a family feast from Kentucky Fried Chicken. It's absolutely scrumptious

Jekyll and Hyde, for all its weaknesses, still sends shivers down my spine to this day. Svengali's music (from what I've heard) is amazing... really eerie and hypnotic (which I suppose is the whole point) and powerful. Scarlet, Civil, Dracula, C.C., Waiting, Mayerling, Cyrano... the list goes on. It's very tempting: and hopefully this is one of his best scores yet

Don't know if it will go to Broadway?

Juggler - November 2, 2005 04:04 PM (GMT)
I haven't heard any mention of Broadway with this project yet. Right now they're focusing their energy on Budapest (and then Vienna). If it does well there, I'm sure other productions will follow.

If not, the man has enough projects to throw at the entire world. Put Alice on in Sydney (the Copperfield show), Bonnie and Clyde in America, Camille Claudel in Britain across from Cyrano, Excalibur on Broadway... He's got a million shows for a million places. The man knows where he's going :D
