Title: Havana to premiere in Pasadena

Juggler - July 24, 2009 03:43 PM (GMT)
The Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, California has just announced the world premiere of Havana as the centerpiece of its 2010 theater season!

Articles describe the show this way: "From the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright who brought us Anna In The Tropics and the incomparable composer Frank Wildhorn comes a majestic new musical about the city whose blazing tropic days and seductive stormy nights are the stuff of legend. The story centers on Natalie, an ambitious North American writer who has recently inherited a nightclub and a lavish home from her auntie. She ventures to Cuba to sell her assets in order to fund her creative ambitions, but will she be able to resist the tantalizing call of the city and her newfound love interest?"

More information, including season subscription details, is posted at http://FrankWildhorn.com

Finaly! :D I'm really curious about this one (much more than Bonnie and Wonderland to tell the truth :P )
Do you know who are the producers? 'cause last time I've heard, GlobalBroadway had bought the rights to premiere the show on B'way next year. Perhaps this will be the Pre-B'way run? Hope so :)

I haven't seen anything specifically naming the producers for this run, connected with this announcement. It may still be that partnership with Global Broadway and others, as it was announced last year. I'm still working to get some more information about all of this, and will of course provide updates as I have them.

It's not like me to miss these announcements  Ah well, a lot's been going on.

More information has just been released (on Playbill and Variety). According to this, the producers (Kathleen Raitt, Willian Franzblau/Jay Harris, Ben Sprecher/Louise Forlenza and Steven E. Leber/Jordan Leber) are aiming to bring the show to Broadway in the 2010-11 season. (Note: Sprecher and Forlenza are the "Global Broadway" partnership).

This also says that Joseph Church will music direct, and Oscar Hernandez (Grammy-winning Latin pianist and leader of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra) will serve as a special consultant/dance arranger.

This is really incredible news. I hope my instincts are correct about another "Trifecta" with "Bonnie & Clyde", "Wonderland" and "Havana" all playing the Great White Way.

Is the song "The Last Tango" from Linda's "It's Time" album going to be featured in Havana?

Juggler - August 6, 2009 02:48 PM (GMT)
I haven't heard anything indicating that "Last Tango" is connected to Havana. The title track, "It's Time", might be part of the show. Or it might not be included any more. We'll have to wait until the show reaches the stage to see what songs are really included.
