Its been awhile, of course, but I remember a song entitled The Peculiar Institution performed in the Broadway production. I remember it being very INTENSE visually and the song was great.
But I notice some of the past productions list it as being played in the show--others dont. Not sure if its in the Fords Theatre show now????
Is there any recording of this song anywhere to be found on the internet?
And whats the reacon of inclusion and not.
Also, WITH THESE HANDS is sometimes left out of productions, it seems...I cant imagine cutting that song.
If the song is not part of the 1998 Complete Work CD, then there's no recording of the song available on the market ;)
Well, yeah, i know if its not on that recording before the show opened on broadway--ok-i own that one--- .....thought maybe there was more info than that---since some songs changed..as you know
Unfortunately, as Fantasma said, there isn't any recording of "Peculiar Institution" on the market. I remember it as having strongly emotional music and content - can't recall the visual aspect from the Broadway production specifically.
I don't have a songlist from the Ford's production, so I don't know if it's in that. It was in the Gettysburg production, and the national tour before that, so it seems to be included in the major productions, at least up until now.
I've learned that Peculiar Institution IS in the Ford's production.
